A Gear Train is a mechanical system made up of two or more gears that are connected in such a way that the rotation of one gear causes the rotation of the others. Gear trains are used to transmit motion and torque between shafts and can also change the speed or direction of rotation.

Simple Gear Train: Each gear is mounted on its own shaft, and each gear meshes with only one other gear.
Compound Gear Train: More than one gear is mounted on the same shaft, allowing for larger speed ratios in a compact space.
Reverted Gear Train: Input and output shafts are aligned in a straight line, often used in clocks and precision machinery.
Epicyclic (Planetary) Gear Train: Consists of a central “sun” gear, planet gears rotating around it, and an outer “ring” gear. This type is widely used in automatic transmissions and robotics.
